Alright, so the Rain Badge will let you use ROCK SMASH, not Cut. To get Rock Smash, you have to backtrack Back to Route 701. Yay.

Go there, and find a Hiker. You could get the HM from him before, but I didn't think about this until now, and I didn't want a simple, "Hey, dude, it's in the town you get the badge" thing.

So you head north, there are rocks to smash. Smash 'em. Then go further. Say hello to Route 705.

Route 705
Trainers
Hiker Jim: Geodude (LV 13)
Hiker Jose: Onix (LV 13)
Kindler Hineman: Numel (LV 13), Geodude (LV 12)

Pokemon
Numel: 15%
Geodude: 20%
Tauros: 7%
Stantler: 13%
Rhyhorn: 20%
Nosepass: 25%

Magikarp: 95%
Feebas: 5%

Barboach: 45%
Magikarp: 45%
Feebas: 10%

Luvdisc: 30%
Barboach: 40%
Whiscash: 10%
Magikarp: 20%

Barboach: 50%
Whiscash: 20%
Wooper: 15%
Magikarp: 15%

There are no handouts. However, there is a Pokeball containing a mystic water on the other side of the lake.

After this, you enter a cave. This cave will be called Mountainside Cavern. In here, you will find a ton of Rock/Ground types and a couple of other Pokemon.

The Mountainside Cavern
Pokemon
Floor 1-
Zubat: 25%
Geodude: 25%
Onix: 10%
Nosepass: 10%
Makuhita: 20%
Machop: 10%

Floor 2-
Zubat: 25%
Geodude: 25%
Onix: 10%
Nosepass: 10%
Makuhita: 20%
Machop: 10%

Floor 3 has no Pokemon and some treasures. However, this floor is secret, for you can only reach it with the Mach Bike, which does not appear until Gym 4. However, keep it in mind; there's good stuff. Otherwise, you only get a bit of area where you go up a latter. Use this floor as an advantage to heal.

Floor 4-
Makuhita: 25%
Machop: 15%
Onix: 20%
Numel: 20%
Ditto: 5%
Magnemite: 15%

Barboach 100% (Also on Good Rod)

Omanyte: 25%
Kabuto: 25%
Barboach: 50%

Note: This is the only place to find Kabuto or Omanyte. However, they appear at the appealing level of 30, so it's not a waste.

This color indicates the Wild Pokemon that will show up wile walking.

Trainers
Floor 1-
Hiker Pete: Geodude (LV 11), Machop (LV 10)
Hiker Selepec: Makuhita (LV 11), Onix (LV 12)
Bug Catcher Melvin: Ledyba (LV 13), Butterfree (LV 12), Beedrill (LV 12)

Floor 2-
Hiker Mamone: Onix (LV 14)
Hiker Ortman: Barboach (LV 12), Wooper (LV 13)
Youngster Nathan: Nincada (LV 11), Zigzagoon (LV 12), Pidgey (LV 11)

Floor 3 has no trainers, but yet again, treasures available when you get the Mach Bike. However, there is somebody here that will give you the TM Rock Slide. He'll have a recolored Gary sprite, and will not fight you but will in another secret area. He'll also add you to the Veriphone (Reference to Verizon).

Floor 4-
Hiker Louie: Nincada (LV 12), Shuckle (LV 13), Heracross (LV 12)
Team Garbage Grunt 1: Grimer (LV 10), Koffing (LV 11)
Team Garbage Grunt 2: Poochyena (LV 10), Rattata (LV 10), Grimer (LV 11)
Super Nerd Miguel: Magneton (LV 26), Flaaffy (LV 24), Volbeat (LV 27)

As you guessed by the Super Nerd, if you come back with the Mach Bike, you can either get the Root Fossil or the Claw Fossil. However, one will disappear. You can catch them both in a cave later aftergame. Well, tbh, I'm not sure, but still, it will work out somehow.

When you leave, you're out. You can always come back here, too, unlike FR/LG. So once you're out, go into Maizetown.

You'll find stuff here, like the Verizon Corperation Building and the gym, but it's not recommended, for there is something you can do in the Verizon building.

You'll find that there are Team Garbage grunts everywhere. Fight the one by the stairs.

Team Garbage Grunt: Grimer (LV 14)

Once that's done, go ahead and go upstairs and save the president.

Team Garbage Grunt: Koffing (LV 14), Poochyena (LV 13), Grimer (LV 14)

Now, talk to the pres, and he'll give you a Veriphone. Aqua, Prof. Sumac, and April/Marcus will randomly call you to add you.

So anyways, yeah, now you can take the gym. The type is Rock, like the dungeon you went through.

The Maizetown Gym

Hiker Mitch: Geodude (LV 15), Nosepass (LV 14)
Hiker Noah: Onix (LV 16)
Hiker Austin: Sandshrew (LV 14), Corsola (LV 15), Geodude (LV 14)
Leader Reggie: Sandshrew (LV 17), Corsola (LV 17), Onix (LV 19 w/ Sitrus Berry), Geodude (LV 18), Nosepass (LV 18), and Shuckle (LV 20 w/ Leftovers)

And that's all for this hell of a long suggestion.

Really? I thought Ice did the more important stuff, like the Elite Four and Champion pick and the Legendary, and encounters of important people and other quests you gotta do.
